Celery Juicing made easy!

Celery Juicing made easy!

Celery juicing is the latest health trend thanks to Medical Medium, Anthony William. Said to heal inflammation, autoimmune disease, skin disorders, chronic illness and more, here at Banks Kitchen Shop, we decided to explore the different juicing methods available, and put together a quick 'how to' to make juicing simple.

CELERY JUICE TIPS:

• Drink 16 ounces (roughly 475ml) of pure celery juice every morning on an empty stomach. Wait at least 15 minutes after drinking your celery juice before consuming anything else.

• If you’re sensitive, start with a smaller amount and work your way up.

• Use organic celery whenever possible. If you’re using conventional celery, be sure you wash it really well before juicing.

• If the taste of straight celery juice is too strong for you, juice one cucumber and/or one apple with the celery. As you get used to it, keep increasing the ratio of celery. Remember, the greatest benefits come when celery juice is consumed on its own.
• If mornings are a mad rush, you can prepare, cut and refrigerate your celery ready for juicing the night before.

WHICH JUICER TO USE?

Confused between Masticating vs Centrifugal Juicer? Here's some more info on each:
Masticating juicers have an auger which crushes the celery and presses out the juice at a slow and steady rate. The rotating grinder pushes the nutrient-rich juice into one compartment, and the pulp into another.

PROS:

Better at preserving nutrients for longer
Better at juicing leafy greens and hard veg and fruit
Runs quietly

CONS:

Slower
More prep
More costly
Harder to clean

Centrifugal juicers have sharp blades which act like a high speed grater, with a circular motion forcing the juice through a mesh chamber.

PROS:

Faster
Less prep
More affordable
More efficient with soft and hard fruit and veg

CONS:

Louder
Squeezes out less juice
Oxidises sooner (best to drink juice immediately after juicing to get the most nutrients)
Easier to clean

High speed blenders also work for juicing by blending the celery into pulp, releasing all the juices.

PROS:

Great if you don't want to keep multiple single purpose appliances
Easy to clean the machine
Quick

CONS:

Slightly more labour intensive as you have to do the squeezing!
Louder
Extra effort to clean the muslin cloth
